IBM is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer for its Infrastructure team in Bangalore. This role is ideal for early professionals with hands-on experience in automation, scripting, troubleshooting, and infrastructure reliability. You’ll support IBM Power Systems, work with hardware and software environments, and help improve the reliability of critical internal systems.
About the Role
As part of the OneIT Lab Engineering team, you’ll work on the setup, configuration, and maintenance of IBM Power servers, automation tasks, performance tuning, monitoring, and incident response. The role blends system operations with development practices and offers full exposure to both physical infrastructure and software reliability engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Support setup and maintenance of IBM Power servers and lab infrastructure
- Help with automation, monitoring, tuning, and system optimization
- Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis
- Work with engineering teams to align hardware and software operations
- Assist with lab analytics and data-driven decision-making
- Contribute to deployment, scaling, and maintenance of test and production systems
- Document processes, troubleshooting steps, and configurations
- Learn and apply SRE best practices across reliability and observability
Required Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of experience as an SRE or similar role
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Hands-on experience with Python, Bash, Ansible, or similar scripting tools
- Basic understanding of servers, virtualization, and infrastructure
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals
- Familiarity with data analytics frameworks
- Ability to automate repetitive tasks
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes or OpenShift
- Experience with Terraform, CI/CD tools, and automation frameworks
- Experience building alerts, dashboards, or monitoring tools
