📝 Job Description
Oracle is hiring a Principal Site Reliability Engineer (SRE – IC4) to join its Database Cloud Service team in Bengaluru. This role focuses on designing, operating, and automating large-scale, distributed, mission-critical cloud infrastructure with strong emphasis on availability, scalability, security, and performance.
As a senior SRE, you will act as the ultimate escalation point for complex issues, drive automation to prevent recurrence, and partner closely with development teams to improve service architecture across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate large-scale distributed cloud services
- Improve service availability, scalability, efficiency, and resiliency
- Develop automation to eliminate recurring operational issues
- Own end-to-end performance, operability, and reliability of services
- Participate in architecture, capacity planning, and demand forecasting
- Lead root cause analysis and define long-term corrective actions
- Design and implement monitoring and alerting infrastructure
- Collaborate with development teams to enhance service architecture
- Participate in on-call rotations as part of the SRE team
🎯 Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience running large-scale customer-facing services
- Strong experience as a Site Reliability Engineer / DevOps Engineer
- Deep understanding of Oracle Database technologies:
- RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Backups
- Experience with Oracle Exadata (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems & cloud architectures
- Hands-on scripting: Shell, Python
- Experience with OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Linux OS expertise (IO, networking, kernel fundamentals)
- Virtualization & containers: KVM, OVM, Docker
- CI/CD, DevOps tools, and Agile methodologies
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
🎓 Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience defining and documenting complex technical architectures
- Strong ownership mindset and analytical problem-solving skills
