Job Overview
Oracle is looking for an experienced Network Scaling Engineer to support the design, deployment, and operations of its global Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The role focuses on building high-scale access fabrics, metro networks, optical systems, edge connectivity, and automation to manage large, distributed cloud environments.
You’ll work on scaling network systems that support millions of servers and hundreds of thousands of devices across OCI’s global footprint.
Key Responsibilities
Network Engineering & Scaling
- Design and deploy access fabric networks for OCI.
- Build and expand metro and optical networks for high-speed data transport.
- Manage external connectivity and edge devices.
- Lead large-scale network migrations with minimal downtime.
Operations & Troubleshooting
- Support the full network lifecycle from builds to upgrades.
- Handle break-fix incidents and lead root cause analysis.
- Update runbooks and standard operating procedures.
Automation & Tooling
- Automate network workflows using Python or equivalent scripting.
- Collaborate with automation and software teams to build tools.
- Drive improvements in network monitoring, telemetry, and performance.
Architecture & Roadmap
- Influence network strategy and future design decisions.
- Work with cross-functional teams on new features and long-term architecture.
- Collaborate with vendors on firmware, OS qualifications, and bug fixes.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience in large-scale networking.
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet hardware and protocols: BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP.
- Hands-on experience with VPN, DNS, DHCP.
- Understanding of Internet peering.
- Strong Python scripting for automation.
- Experience with network modeling, security architecture, and performance testing.
- Solid understanding of telemetry, data flows, and distributed systems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
