Job Description
Oracle is hiring a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer experienced in Linux/Solaris Administration to support and manage its global production environments.
The role involves maintaining high availability, scalability, and performance of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) systems and databases while solving complex infrastructure and operational challenges.
You’ll be part of a global, fast-paced engineering team ensuring the reliability and efficiency of Oracle’s critical services through automation, monitoring, and proactive incident management.
About the Team
At Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we design and deliver the next generation of enterprise cloud services. The Compute organization provides essential infrastructure power (VMs and Bare Metal servers), making it the backbone of Oracle Cloud’s success.
You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, apply advanced troubleshooting skills, and help shape the operational excellence of Oracle Cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, monitor, maintain, support, and optimize production server hardware and software.
- Provide escalated technical support for complex infrastructure and production issues.
- Support and troubleshoot staging/production environments within defined SLAs.
- Perform on-call support on a rotational basis ensuring 24/7 uptime.
- Maintain service high availability with zero-downtime deployments.
- Develop and automate deployment tools and operational workflows.
- Implement proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and incident management.
- Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Ensure production security, reliability, and robust documentation.
Required Skills
- 6+ years overall IT experience (minimum 4 years as a System Admin/Support Engineer).
- Strong expertise in Linux and Solaris Administration.
- Knowledge of Virtualization, Networking, and Cloud Computing.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, Shell scripting (Java/Go is a plus).
- Hands-on with Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or Elastic Stack.
- Experience managing large-scale cloud deployments with high throughput and uptime.
- Familiarity with Chef, Terraform, Git, Jenkins, Artifactory.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for CI/CD environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Flexible to work in rotational shifts and high-demand environments.
