Key Responsibilities
- Provide continuous monitoring and production support in a dynamic infrastructure environment.
- Perform installation, configuration, and deployment of Linux (SuSE/RedHat) in both standalone and virtualized zLinux environments.
- Modify and manage Linux configurations and system services as required.
- Maintain Linux environment standards through structured configuration processes.
- Analyze Linux system logs, proactively identify issues, and implement robust resolutions.
- Execute operational and maintenance activities in alignment with customer requirements.
- Demonstrate in-depth expertise with CMS, REXX, and Pipelines, ensuring seamless system operations.
- Utilize security and risk-mitigation technologies including RACF, system encryption, disaster recovery techniques, and high-availability configurations.
- Configure and manage z/VM for Linux on IBM z Systems, ensuring optimal performance and stability.
- Create and maintain USER DIRECTORY entries for z/VM user management.
- Handle system maintenance activities such as patching, migrations, upgrades, and environment enhancements.
- Important: This role is not for traditional Linux administrators—experience specifically in zLinux and IBM mainframe-based Linux operations is required.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in Linux Administration, preferably SuSE or RedHat.
- Strong operational experience with Linux in enterprise-grade environments.
- Deep knowledge of CMS, REXX scripting, and Pipe structures.
- Proven ability to work with RACF, encryption, and disaster recovery setups.
- Solid experience configuring z/VM environments for Linux workloads on IBM z Systems.
- Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
