🔧 Your Role & Responsibilities – Site Reliability Engineer
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you will work in an agile, collaborative environment to build, deploy, configure, and maintain highly reliable systems supporting IBM’s global client business.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 24×7 Observability & Reliability
- Be part of a global on-call SRE team monitoring production systems round-the-clock
- Ensure high availability, performance, and optimal customer experience
🔹 Cross-Functional Troubleshooting
- Lead production issue analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution
- Partner with engineering teams to identify root causes and deploy fixes
🔹 Deployment & Configuration Management
- Deploy services and configuration changes using CI/CD pipelines
- Support enterprise-scale deployments with automation best practices
🔹 Security & Compliance Implementation
- Implement security controls aligned with:
- GDPR
- SOC2
- ISO 27001
- PCI
- HIPAA
- FBA
🔹 Maintenance & Production Support
- Apply Couchbase security patches and upgrades
- Support Cassandra and MongoDB during pager-duty rotations
- Collaborate with Couchbase Product Support for issue resolution
🧠 Required Technical & Professional Expertise
- Strong skills in system monitoring, observability, and incident response
- Hands-on experience in automation to reduce operational toil
- Strong working knowledge of Linux operating systems
- Experience in:
- Alert management
- Incident support
- Migration activities
- Break-fix production support
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Terraform
- OpenTofu
- Hands-on experience with ELK / EFK stack:
- Elasticsearch
- Logstash / Fluentd
- Kibana
⭐ Preferred Technical & Professional Experience
- Strong experience with Kubernetes / OpenShift in production environments
- Advanced automation and scripting skills:
- Ansible
- Python
- Terraform
- CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, IBM Continuous Delivery, ArgoCD
- Experience building dashboards and alerts using:
- Instana
- New Relic
- Grafana / Prometheus
- Experience working in Agile teams (Kanban / Scrum)
🎓 Education Qualification
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree
- Preferred: Master’s Degree
