IBM is hiring a Data Engineer – Data Platforms for its IBM Consulting Client Innovation Center in Kolkata. In this role, you will work on enterprise-scale big data and analytics platforms, supporting global clients in their hybrid cloud and AI transformation journeys.
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, ETL workflows, and scalable data infrastructure using modern big data technologies. This role is ideal for experienced professionals who want to work on high-impact data-driven solutions in a leading MNC service-based IT company.
🔧 Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain big data solutions for enterprise clients
- Design and implement source-to-target data pipelines and workflows
- Build, optimize, and support data models and ETL processes
- Manage scalable data infrastructure for data-driven organizations
- Enable secure and efficient data access for data scientists and analysts
- Work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex data challenges
- Follow Agile methodologies and industry best practices
🧠 Required Technical & Professional Skills
- 5+ years of experience in Big Data and Data Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Apache Hadoop & Apache Spark
- Scala and Python (PySpark)
- HBase and Hive
- Experience developing Python and PySpark programs for data analysis
- Hands-on experience with Spark DataFrames and RDDs
- Experience using Hive Context for read/write operations
- Strong understanding of data transformations and business logic implementation
⭐ Good to Have / Preferred Skills
- Cloud exposure: AWS S3, Athena, DynamoDB, Lambda
- CI/CD & DevOps tools: Jenkins, Git
- Experience building custom Python frameworks (rules engines, automation)
- Understanding of DevOps practices
- Experience building scalable end-to-end data ingestion solutions
- Knowledge of object-oriented and functional programming (Python, Java, Scala)
🎓 Educational Qualification
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree
- Preferred: Master’s Degree
