In a major healthcare initiative, Infosys Foundation, the CSR arm of Infosys, has announced a pledge of ₹48 crore to support maternal and child healthcare in rural Karnataka. This initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with Prashanthi Balamandira Trust, a UN-recognized non-profit organization dedicated to free education, nutrition, and healthcare services.
🏥 Supporting Rural Healthcare Infrastructure
The funds will strengthen operations at the Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Hospital, run under the Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR). The grant will be used to:
- Upgrade obstetrics and gynecology equipment
- Enhance NICU, PICU, ICU, and diagnostic services
- Modernize Operation Theatres (OTs)
- Support essential operational costs for free care delivery
This initiative is expected to provide free specialized healthcare to over 8,000 underserved women and children annually, helping reduce maternal and infant mortality in rural Karnataka.
