Oracle is looking for an experienced Cloud Operations Engineer to manage and optimize production environments across systems and databases. The role focuses on availability, scalability, performance, troubleshooting, incident management, and maintaining Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) standards.
You will work closely with product and development teams, handle complex issues, support deployments, and improve overall service reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Manage production systems and databases supporting critical business functions.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of OCI services.
- Handle incident tickets, perform testing, and deploy updates.
- Conduct RCA or escalate to development when required.
Service Reliability
- Work with product teams on full-stack ownership of services.
- Improve security, performance, and capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across large-scale distributed systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation.
Incident, Change & Release Management
- Provide on-call support in shift rotations.
- Respond and resolve incidents within SLA.
- Support staging and production environments.
- Perform zero-downtime deployments and automation.
- Strengthen monitoring, security, and compliance posture.
Engineering & Automation
- Build and maintain deployment tools and automation scripts.
- Support CI/CD workflows (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Optimize infrastructure for high throughput and IO-intensive workloads.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of IT experience; 4+ years in SysAdmin/Support roles.
- Strong Linux administration and system architecture background.
- Virtualization technologies.
- Scripting: Python, Bash, Shell (Java/Go is a bonus).
- Understanding of networking, cloud computing, load balancers.
- Monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, Elastic, etc.
- Experience with large-scale deployments and distributed systems.
- Configuration and DevOps tools: Chef, Terraform, Git, Jenkins/Hudson, Artifactory.
- CI/CD and containerization: Docker, Kubernetes.
