Job Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Compliance Analyst to join the AWS Economic Development team in India. In this role, you will be responsible for managing compliance, analysis, reporting, and realization of Amazon’s economic development and incentive programs while supporting key public policy initiatives across AWS and AWS ED.
This is a critical position involving close collaboration with internal business units and external government bodies to ensure seamless compliance and strategic program execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage external compliance engagements with national, state, and community economic development agencies.
- Oversee compliance processes including forecasting, monetizing, commitment tracking, and program implementation.
- Develop procedures to collect data from Legal, HR, Tax, Finance, Accounting, and Infrastructure teams for consistent filings.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external professional service providers.
- Research and review contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Build reports and analyze large Excel datasets for audit and compliance purposes.
- Drive automation and process improvement across compliance workflows.
- Prepare impactful monthly and quarterly metrics for leadership.
A Day in the Life
You’ll work with a global portfolio of governments, granting agencies, and economic development organizations to manage AWS’s incentive programs. This includes portfolio analysis, process innovation, and cross-team collaboration to streamline program implementation. You’ll also conduct research, benchmark analyses, and review legal agreements while leading the rollout of new tools and mechanisms to enhance efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in compliance, credits & incentives, tax, or economic development.
- Proven experience managing multi-jurisdictional portfolios.
- Strong knowledge of tax law, contracts, and public policy frameworks.
- Experience in program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Business, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data management tools.
- Active CPA or similar professional certification.
- Proven ability to partner with government entities or regulators.
- Familiarity with CRM, project management, and data visualization tools.
- Background in economic development, public policy, or data center infrastructure.
- Advanced degree (MBA, Master of Tax, JD, or LLM).
