Job Description
Oracle is hiring a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer to manage and optimize production environments supporting critical business operations.
The role involves maintaining systems and databases, ensuring uptime, performance, and scalability for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
You will work with cross-functional global teams, implement best practices, automate operations, and lead incident and change management efforts in a fast-paced cloud ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, monitor, maintain, and optimize production server hardware and software.
- Provide escalated technical support and manage complex problem cases.
- Ensure smooth functioning of staging and production environments.
- Respond and resolve incidents within defined SLA timelines.
- Perform on-call duties on a rotational basis and ensure high availability.
- Build, test, and deploy automated solutions replacing manual workflows.
- Execute zero-downtime deployments and ensure system scalability.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production incidents.
- Maintain updated documentation and ensure compliance with change management procedures.
- Strengthen system security posture and implement robust monitoring mechanisms.
Required Skills
- 6+ years total IT experience (minimum 4 years as a System Administrator/Support Engineer).
- Strong expertise in Linux OS Administration and system networking.
- Deep understanding of Virtualization technologies and Cloud Computing.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Shell.
- Working knowledge of Java/Go (preferred).
- Familiarity with Load Balancers and high-scale distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or Elastic Stack.
- Skilled in Chef, Terraform, Git, Jenkins/Hudson, Artifactory.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for CI/CD operations.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of Linux OS, networking, and system troubleshooting.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and a fast-paced environment.
